Pilsner - Italian

Italian pilsners are unfiltered and light in color. Generous amounts for German and/or Czech noble hops in dry hopping differentiate them from traditional European pilsners, imparting the characteristic bitterness and peculiar citrusy notes. Tipopils ("kind of pils" in Italian) by Birrificio Italiano started it all in 1996. The name 'Italian Pilsner' originated shortly thereafter within the US craft beer scene, where local versions of the these dry hopped pilsner started gaining popularity.
