2019 Chicago Brewery Bracket:
West – Rd. 1

The first round of our 2019 Readers’ Choice Chicago Brewery Bracket is in the books, after 78,278 total votes–with 19,584 coming from the West, the city’s top vote-getting region. Here, the region went chalk, as all of the top seeds advanced. Who’ll survive among these top breweries to make Round 3?

Vote for your favorite breweries below, and we will tally the votes in order to select a “Sweet 16” for the next round. Voting for Round 2 concludes, Sunday, 3/17 at 5pm CST.

Revolution Brewing (1) vs. Forbidden Root (8)

After Rev’s first anointment as a 1-seed, they powered past All Rise for a showdown with West Town’s Forbidden Root–makers of the botanical and hazy.

Goose Island Beer Co. (2) vs. Old Irving Brewing Co. (10)

Goose outlasted new neighbors, Burnt City, to set up a West Side showdown with the Northwest Side’s fan-favorite brewpub, Old Irving, who toppled 7-seed funk favorites, Off Color Brewing.

Pipeworks Brewing Co. (3) vs. Middle Brow Beer Co. (6)

Two of 2018’s Final Four finishers matchup early in this year’s second round, here. While Pipeworks continues to plan their Logan Square brewpub, last year’s bracket champs, MBBC, has recently opened their space in the same neighborhood to much fanfare.

Maplewood Brewery & Distillery (4) vs. Hopewell Brewing Co. (5)

Here we have another solid same-neighborhood showdown, as Maplewood lines up against Hopewell. Both are Logan Square darlings, with a celebrated fan base, who each pack the house of the respective taprooms every weekend…
