This week’s Beer & Branding brings us Durham, North Carolina’s Ponysaurus Brewing Company. Another in the line of the trendy “nanobrewery” category, this NC joint certainly doesn’t shy away from playfulness, as if that wasn’t apparent enough from the name and logo. Their site is riddled with witty copy and tastefully-quirky imagery. The brand, designed by Raleigh’s Baldwin&, is a unique mix of classic British-inspired libation branding and a whimsical, fresh modern aesthetic. The detailed etched illustration and the paper-wrap packaging suggest more of a keepsake look and feel, while the “Ponysaurus” remind us of something similar to a Napoleon Dynamite creation. This is certainly a memorable approach to creating a new beer brand. Hard to forget a creature like this.
