The Start of the Hop Culture Instagram Account
From a studio apartment in Pittsburgh, Hop Culture founder Kenny Gould slowly built an online craft beer publication into a multidimensional brand. Today, Hop Culture runs a national event series, a merch line, and an exponentially growing Instagram.
In the early days, Hop Culture’s Instagram platform @hopculturemag allowed us to showcase hidden gem breweries from around the country. Armed with an ever-shifting palette of colorful backgrounds, a Canon EOS 5D mark 3 camera, and a vibrant, whimsical approach to the beer pour shot, Gould and Hop Culture Managing Editor John Paradiso created a base of avid craft beer fans on Instagram.
Little by little, our Instagram platform grew from 1,000 followers to 5,000 followers, and then to 20,000 followers and beyond.

The secret to 100,000 followers on Instagram? Good content and time. After four years, we’re finally knocking on the door to 100k fans.
It’s been an incredible double tapping journey that has included plenty of fruit, beer waterfalls, and of course that infamous Oreo dunk. We’ve been blown away by the amazing dedication and support!
