Our recipe adds a little Guinness Extra Stout from the St. James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin, but you can use any stout or porter. For a Black Forest version, try a cherry Berliner Weiss. Recipe for Chocolate Beer Cake

The Ingredients

1 + 3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup cocoa
2 cup sugar
1 + 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 + 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup canola oil
1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup beer
Icing
Cooking spray

The Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a bread pan with cooking spray.
Gently mix together dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder) until thoroughly combined.
Add wet ingredients (eggs, canola oil, milk, vanilla, beer) and mix until thoroughly combined
Pour the batter into the bread pan.
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Take out of the oven and let sit for five minutes. Cover with icing.
Remove and serve.
